A child living in Greece 13, 14, 15 years old is probably the most hard working citizen in this country! While the law states that the legal working hour for an adult is 8 hours per day, Greek students start their day at 7 'o clock in the morning and usually finish at 10 o'clock at night. They have to go to school in the morning, rush home to have lunch, spend their noon studying their afternoon lessons, maybe attend a sport activity, return home to study for the next day and end up going to bed exhausted at about 10 or 11 o'clock! Hard schedule, don't you agree? They suffer from stress, sleep disorder and depression. The social pressure is high as family tradition wants greek children highly educated and qualified. In contrast, in most European countries students finish school at noon and have the rest of the day for themselves to enjoy their free time as they choose. The homework they have to do takes no more than one hour a day. Whereas the greek students spend the whole day trying to learn by heart hundreds of pages of useless material resulting an unbearable social and psychological cost. What would you change if you were the Greek minister of education? What is the ideal school for you?

The students study very hard because they have a lot of homeworks at home.I think that wil change and the childrens have more time to play with friends and have more free time every day.That will be more easy for the childrens and for the teachers.

Yes i believe that the system here in greece isn't that good as other countries and it should change because children can't cope with everything and they have very little time to have fun and everything sometimes the weekend isn't enough because they go somewhere with their parents and they can't do anything at all!

The education system in Greece is awful...!As you said,we have to wake up early in the morning which is very annoying...And of course we are studying a lot of hours every day...If I were a politician I would change everything in the system!I would change old teachers with young teachers because old teachers are always yelling at students.Afterwards I would change the whoooole system,just like that!I wouldn't want my goverment to have elements from the past,as regards the aducation!!! well,it's simple! if I were a politician, I would change everything in our education system.
First of all the teachers!It is not right, students,to have teachers, who are not interested in their subject, cause of their age.Secondly the books!They are awful!They learn us situations that they were existed some years before, as they were published in1990.In the end i would build new,bigger schools,equiped with high-tec technology.
In conclusion,for me, our education system is the worst tha we could have these days.

The student stuby very hard beacuse they have a lot of homeworks and they must do all of them to school so they are to school for a long time that is very hard and their teachers are very strict whith them and that is not good.They get to theyr home at
4:00 o'clock so they have all the afternoon free to play and have fun at a loonapark or at a parc.

I believe that, is a problem because the children are very tired and they don't have enough time to do something diferent.For that problem responsable state because they don't have agood system.Finaly the teachers must be more friendly and don't put a lot of homework!!!!
The greek students are very unhuppy and stressful because they have to study for hours!For instance,I wake up at seven o'clock in the morning,I go to school and I turn back at two o'clock!I have my lunch and then I study my lessons.At six o'clock,I go to the english school and I finish at eight o'clock.Then, I go home and I do a revision in my greek lessons and I sleep at eleven o'clock!I don't think that it's the most joyful thing to do that every day!!In addition,another big problem is the teachers in greek schools!The most of them are really strict and so nasty!!!

I agree with you sokratis.I think that schools should start later.We should also have less fewer hours because we should have more free time to play games and have fun.The greek students get tired because of the hard schedule and parents shouldn't put pressure on their children.
