Christmas is a major celebration for the western world. The 25 of december is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and it is considered a chance for family gathering and exchanging presents for the countries that are christian. But is it a religious celebration only? Christmas is a great opportunity for the market to increase sales as people tend to spend more money for presents for their loved ones. It's the consumers' paradise and the shopkeepers earn lots of money during this period. Everybody is happy, or that is what we are told! What about the countries that have nothing to do with christianity and christmas? Who manufactures the toys and the christmas trees that we put in our houses? Few will think why the prices are low and where do these toys come from? The fact is that the toys come from China, India and other mainly poor countries where salaries are extremely low and workers have to work for long hours making about 20 cents per hour. Another problem is that it is very likely that the toy or the christmas tree that you will buy is made by a child. Child labour is very common in poor countries like China and India, as there is no regulation to prevent this as the working force is needed to provide the products for the childen in Europe and the U.S.A. The Christmas joy for the children in western countries is the suffering of the children in China and India.

Unfortunately everything is posted is true.Christian people like Christams for one reason-Presents.Everyone is anxious to get their present on the Christmas eve.The people in India or China aren't responsible for their situation there and they can't do anything to change it.They don't have money to travel,or open their buisness or anything. The only reason these countries are still here and more powerful than ever is that they have two things 1)a lot of Raw Materials and 2)a very cheap workforce. They can make evrything they want and because of the cheap workforce they make it almost for free and then sell it to other countries for ten times the money!!>>Vogiatzakis Sokratis FCE1<<

I think that the children must not pay 20 sents pair hour!!! These kids are forsed to work all the Christmas days and also all the year!I bielive that these children want to celebrate the changing of the year with their parents!!!
The problem is that these kids can't tell anything about their pay! I think that with
the money they get can't buy nothing to eat or anything else!!!
We should help them some how!!!

The people in India or China aren't
Christian and at the christmas neither take present nor celebrate
it.The people from India or China
don't have money to travel,or open
their buisness or anything. The children from India or China works very hard. They make toys for the children and take 0,20euro per hour.I believe that the people take advantage the children and must stop it or to give more money
at the children.

I can't believe that the children work from a really early age! They work everyday without break and they take only 20 sents per hour!!This is very awful and inexplicable!!They have to do something for this very soon!
