Have you ever wondered why google is offering its applications like google voice search, gmail, youtube, and maps to a competing operating system that the iphone is since they are the developers of android OS and the owners of motorola? The answer is quite simple. Google doesn't make any money off of selling android which is open source. They make money when people use their services. They are more in the ads business rather than make money selling hardware. Google apps like Maps is a fantastic place to sell ads. Maps applications not only know where you are, they know where you’re going to and what types of businesses you are searching. Google Maps for iOS is ad-free at the moment, but not for long since "intention" data is exactly what the advertisers are looking for. Gmail for iOS is also a great opportunity for advertising; the web version of gmail has always had ads based on the content of e-mail messages. Google wants to be present on all major platforms, and they want to offer the best experience and serve its customers wherever they are. Do you own a smartphone? How often do you use it? ePals-Where learners connect!

Epals is a global community of connected classrooms, a social learning network for teachers and students and parents from 200 countries that uses web 2.0 tools (emails, blogs, forums) built in for free. 1500 new schhol profiles are added every month. Smart tables or smart desks are the new trend in education after the interactive whiteboards have had their chance in classrooms. They are a great way to connect users to each other and to learning and motivate them to collaborate and work as a member of a team. The multi touch, multi-user interactive desks are mainly used for primary education but we are certain they will find their way to more applications in the near future. Students are developing skills like never before in an engaging environment with ready made activities that are easily customised. Never, Ever give up. Arthur's Inspirational Transformation

Arthur Boorman, a disabled veteran of the Gulf War, was told by his doctors that he would never be able to walk on his own. Until one day he read an article about Diamont Dallas Yoga and he decided to give it a try. He couldn't do traditional exercise so he tried yoga and wrote an email to Dallas telling him his story. Dallas was so moved that he started emailing and speaking on the phone with Arthur encouraging him to keep going and believe that anything is possible. His story is a proof that there are no limits on what we are capable of and we often don't know our own potential. How did the story make you feel? Be thankful for what you have

There are times in your life when you say that you can't do something and you feel disappointed and you keep on concentrating on the things that you wish you had and on the things that you wish that you  didn't have. But most of the times we don;t realise that what we have and what we need are right next to where we are and we are so blind to see the people we love and the things we do that when we lose them we come to the point to appreciate them. So we have to be thankful for what you have and hope that life will be nice to you and to the people you love. We are all just passing by, traveling in a huge bubble called earth in the middle of the universe, and no one will tell you why we are here for and what is the purpose of everything you see and feel. You have to search deep inside and believe in yourself, dream big and never give up!

The NYTimes learning Network. A great resource for students!

The Learning Network by the New York Times is a great way to learn english and improve you skills in an interactive and user-friendly designed environment. Students of all levels are able to read newspapar articles and explore definitions of uknown words. The site offers teaching and learning meterial as well as ideas for parents, students and teachers. There is a lesson plan every weekday which includes visual literacy, critical thinking, history and social studies, science and health, english language and fine arts. There is also a student opinion question column where students from around the world can post their view on current events. Improve your reading skills with quizzes like News Quiz. crosswords and activities and enrich your vocabulary with "word of the day".

Duolingo iPhone app. A great way to learn a foreign language

This is the first post of a series of suggestions about apps and educational sites that will help students, parents and teachers discover useful learning resources. Today's suggestion is an app called Duolingo, an iPhone app that helps you learn a foreign language through games and puzzles. It encourages interaction with real work situations and teaches you in a way that is both fun and engaging. You can downloaded free from the App Store. Feel free to tell us If it worked for you.

A life in a day

It is just amazing when you reasise that technology has made it possible to be able to watch what is happening around the world in real time, share your life experience and communicate in ways that were not possible in the near past. "A life in a day" is a documentary shot by people all over the world that serves as a time capsule for future generations to see what it was like to be alive on the 24th July 2010. It is an incredible public motion event 94 minutes 53 seconds long and includes scenes from 4.500 hours of footage in 80.000 submissions to youtube from 192 nations. The clips which were submitted to youtube are showing respective occurrences from around the world on a single day and the premiere of the film was streamed live on January 27, 2011. First Gps shoes guide you home!!!

The "no place like home" shoes were inspired by the "Wizard of Oz. Created by British designer Dominic Wilcox they are programmed to guide you home "no matter what!". The shoes include an gps receiver and an antenna and the user must upload his destination via a custom made mapping software and usb cable. So, with a simple click of the heels the magic shoes will make it easier to find your way home. Each shoe has a series of LED lights, the right shoe shows a progress bar of how far the wearer has to go and the left shoe points the direction to the wearer. Would you wear these shoes?
